How to Write

Over the past several weeks I’ve given you insight into each step of my 9-step formula for writing conversational book marketing materials that can include your website sales pages, eblasts, back cover copy, Amazon descriptions, and more.

Last week I covered Step 5 and showed you how to write sharp and concise bullet points that communicate your book’s primary benefits or lessons.

However, after you communicate the benefits of your book to potential readers, they may pause and think, “Sounds great, but why should I believe you?”

That’s a reasonable question to ask and the easiest way to answer it is to build social proof into your book promotion copy.

Social proof can consist of reviews, endorsements, statistics, facts provided by industry experts, or even your own story or professional credentials.

To find out how to build social proof into your book marketing copy,
watch this week’s Book Marketing Copy Quick Tip video.

Answer the Question: “Why should I believe you?”

In this week’s video, I provide you with insights that will help you support your book marketing copy benefit statements with social proof.

Again, after you communicate your book’s primary benefits or lessons to your readers it’s safe to assume they’re going to pause and think, “Nice benefit statements, but why should I believe you?”

The best way to answer this question is to follow your benefit statements with social proof when you craft your book promotion copy.

Here are the main forms of social proof you’ll hear me talk about in greater detail in this week’s video.

  • Reviews
  • Endorsements
  • Statistics
  • Facts/findings
  • Your professional background
  • Your personal story

In my video I give you tips and instructions that explain how you can effectively blend these various forms of social proof into your book marketing copy, so I encourage you to watch it.

Next week, I’ll show you how to write strong, confident call-to-action lines that compel readers to buy your book.

Until then, take action and make things happen!
