How to Grease Your Marketing Copy's Wheels

In my last post, I spoke about how persuasive sales copy can read like a simple conversation between authors and potential book buyers.

This week I want to follow up by talking to you about the “it” factor that can make conversational sales copy even more effective for authors who want to sell more books and online programs.

This “it” factor can really grease the wheels for your book marketing copy and your entire book promotion campaign.

It’s quite easy to leverage because it’s actually just a simple strategy. However, as simple as it is it can significantly improve the results you achieve through your conversational book marketing copy.

Know You, Like You, Trust You

About 10 days ago, I received a phone call from an author who had subscribed to my YouTube channel and watched several of my Book Marketing Copy Quick Tip videos. This is what he said to me in the first 30 seconds of our call.

“Hey, I’ve watched several of your videos over the past few weeks, and you seem like a cool guy who knows his stuff. I’d like to hire you to write the marketing copy for my upcoming book.”

Nice. I barely had to say anything, and I had a new writing assignment.

The reason this happened is because each week I put out a simple video tip in which I try to be nice and offer you helpful information that has a lot of value.

I end each video by telling you how you can receive additional free information from me. No sales pitch. No raz-ma-taz. I just try to create a simple conversation between you and me.

So why did this author call me up and ask me to write his book marketing copy? Because after following me for a bit and watching my videos, he felt like he knew me, liked me, and trusted me.

In marketing this is called the “know me, like me, trust me” factor. This is what motivates people to buy from you more than anything. To build this factor with potential readers of your book, all you have to do is:

  1. Engage with your audience and potential new fans
  2. Be nice and provide them with a lot of value

It’s this simple. Engage with potential readers of your book and provide them with value. Then when it’s time to launch your book, you’ve got a crowd of people who know you, like you, and trust you.

In this week’s video, I provide more insight into how the “know you, like you, trust you” factor can be the simple ingredient that greases the wheels for creating conversational marketing copy that helps you sell more books and online programs.

I really encourage you to watch it.

Until next week, take action and make things happen!
